Target competencies:

  • Describe the roles of a forensic nurse.
  • Describe the dynamics of IPV, providing context for the care of patients experiencing IPV.
  • Describe the role of the forensic nurse in caring for the patient experiencing IPV.
  • Discuss the program and operational issues related to the preparatory and structural aspects of providing care to the patient experiencing IPV.
  • Describe the necessary collaborations required for providing patient-family centered care to the patient experiencing IPV.
  • Describe the fundamental understanding a forensic nurse should have of the criminal justice system and how the nurse role intersects with that system.
  • Discuss the ethical foundation of forensic nursing.

Registrants must meet these qualifications:

Have a license as a Registered Nurse.
